Kazakh National Medical University, situated in Almaty, one of the largest city and old capital of Kazakhstan was established in 1931. Its first rector was S.D.Asfendiyarov and hence it is named in honor of him as S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. It has been classified as “National” University in the year 2001.
The school of General medicine is a modern, dynamically developing school focused on the training of highly qualified medical personnel for the health care system of Kazakhstan.
KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov has cooperation agreements with Universities of foreign and neighboring countries including Japan, Singapore, Italy, Austria, Kyrgyz Republic, Ukraine, Russia and others. KazNMU of the Republic of Kazakhstan, takes the 6th place in the National ranking of demand for Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan-2019, the IAAR. KazNMU took the first place in the institutional rating in the category of medical universities according to the results of the National rating of the best universities in Kazakhstan-2019 NAOKO.
