Samarkand State Medical University, since April 2022, earlier known as the State Uzbek Medical Institute (SUMI) was founded in the year 1930, in the city of Samarkand. It has become not only one of the leading medical Universities in Uzbekistan, but also in the entire Central Asia Region.
The University has established cooperation with such well-known foreign Universities as Privolzhsky Research Medical University, Chuvash National University named by I.N Ulyanov (Russia), Ternopil National Medical University named by Y.B.Gorbachvesky (Ukraine), the National Louis University Graduate School of Business (Poland) and the Belarusian State Medical University (Republic of Belarus) in personnel training in bachelor’s and master’s degrees in several specialties under the double degree program.
Over the years of the Universities’ activities, over 40,000 graduates have been trained and graduated. The University’s main goal of training of highly qualified medical personnel, scientific research, development of cooperation with other Universities and leading research centers in the country, as well as abroad has remained unchanged.
At the University, the educational process is supported by modern technologies using electronic and modular training systems. The institution has team of Professors and Tutors, who are masters in their fields and can put to use the basis of modern techniques and new technologies of training to ensure high quality training of specialists with higher medical education. There are clinics specialized in multidisciplinary research to enable students to have good clinical rotations during their course duration.
Library at the University has more than 400000 books, journals and also e-books.
